Past inhabitants of the house containing the log schoolhouse structure.

Log Schoolhouse

The log structure that stood at 493 S. Main Street from 1837 to 2011 was Bourbonnais Grove's first school and a meeting place for Methodist  circuit riders.

After 1848 it was home to several notable Bourbonnais residents. The hand-hewn logs from the demolished structure were preserved and used in the restoration.

BGHS, Village of Bourbonnais and French Heritage Society worked together to restore the schoolhouse in 2021-22.  A dedication was held on November 15, 2022.
